An effort to preserve and share the stories of South Asian pioneers to Canada has also resulted in generous support to BC’s busiest cardiac care centre.

The Vig family, led by Rana and Rupa Vig, is pleased to make a $20,000 contribution to KPU in support of the Mehfil Magazine Endowed Journalism Award. The donation was made possible by the generous supporters of the 100 Year Journey publication and event held on Nov. 29, 2014. The gift will help bring the Mehfil Magazine endowed fund to $100,000.

Rana Vig founded Mehfil magazine in 1993. Now he's republished many of the glossy Reflections columns about Indo-Canadian pioneers and others. They're in a volume titled A 100 Year Journey, representing the time elapsed since Canadian officials refused entry to the immigrant ship Komagata Maru.
